Jim has a distinguished career in public service and in the military. He worked as an addiction therapist in Montgomery County for over 30 years, with experience in Outpatient Addictions Services and other county agencies. Jim was one of the first people to become a Maryland Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor. After graduating from Ohio University, Jim joined the U.S. Army, where he served as a Behavioral Science Specialist for 11 years. While in the Army, Jim worked in a variety of psychiatric and counseling settings. After leaving active duty, Jim served in the Maryland National Guard and the Air Force Reserves. As an Air Force Reservists, Jim participated in Operation Desert Storm. He retired from the military as a Master Sergeant. Jim received his Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado and a Psychotherapy Certificate from Adler-Dreikurs Institute of Human Relations at Bowie State College.
